An intense three day conference will be presented to illustrate the latest principles and techniques in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. The topics will be presented by leaders in the field of diagnostic ultrasound. The intended audience includes physicians and sonographers. Commercial exhibits will display state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, supplies, and educational materials.
At the conclusion of this CME activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Apply current issues and concerns in the use of clinical and technical ultrasound.
- Compare and relate ultrasound knowledge and skills with peers.
- Practice the latest instrumentation and techniques in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound.
Orlando Regional Healthcare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Number of Credits To Be Determined
Cognate credits will be applied for through the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Physics Refresher and Update (Optional)
Imaging and Doppler Principles
This full-day Refresher and Update covers the major topics involved in how modern ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound work. Recent technological advances are included.
The course serves three purposes:
- It provides an introduction for participants who are new to the field.
- It provides a review and up-date of recent technological advances for practicing physicians, sonographers, and other health professionals.
- It provides a review for participants preparing for the UPI, CPI, and VPI examinations administered by the ARDMS.
At the conclusion of this CME activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Explain how ultrasound interacts with tissue, how transducers work, and how sonographic and Doppler instruments produce displays from echoes
- Discuss how these principles apply to clinical practice
- Recognize common artifacts
- Apply ultrasound in a prudent manner
This Refresher and Update is presented by Frederick W. Kremkau, PhD, Professor and Director of the Center for Medical Ultrasound at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Past President of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and author of Diagnostic Ultrasound: Principles and Instruments, now in its 7th edition.
Workshop Credit
Orlando Regional Healthcare designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Sonographers may apply credits toward meeting Continuing Competency Requirements for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Friday Afternoon (Optional)
Learn about AIUM standards for exam protocols, personnel, quality assurance, record keeping, safety and physical facilities. Attend the workshop to find out the answers to these questions:
- Does your ultrasound practice meet nationally accepted standards?
- What is the AIUM accreditation process?
- What does the accreditation application contain?
- What impact will accreditation will have on your practice?
- Do insurance companies require accreditation?
