The Step Down Unit for Trauma Patient Care on 11 Reynolds Tower is a medical/surgical unit with a focus on the care of patients with traumatic injuries and patients requiring general surgical interventions. It is a 40-bed unit with telemetry available and 4 acute care beds for patients requiring a higher level of care. A multidisciplinary approach to patient care is directed toward pre- and post-operative management, patient education, wound management, nutritional support, pain management, and initial rehabilitation after surgery. Support services include respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, dietary care, recreational therapy, catheter care, social services, and trauma nurse clinicians.
