Jeff D. Williamson, MHS, MD
Jeff D. Williamson is a geriatrician and epidemiologist with an appointment as Professor in the Department of Medicine, Section on Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine with a joint appointment in the Department of Public Health Sciences, Section on Epidemiology. Dr. Williamson serves as the Section Head for the Section on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Director of the Roena B. Kulynych Center for Memory and Cognition Research, the Clinical Director of the J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging, and Associate Director for the General Clinical Research Center. Dr. Williamson received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and a Master's degree in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. He completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is site Principal Investigator for both the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) study and the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study – Effects of Docosahexaenoic Acid in Slowing the Progression of Alzheimer’s Disease (ADCS – DHA). He is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Southeastern Network in the ACCORD (Action to Control Cardiovascular Risks in Diabetics) trial, the Coordinating Principal Investigator for the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes –Memory in Diabetes (ACCORD-MIND) and Principal Investigator for the coordinating center in the Ginkgo Biloba Evaluation of Memory Study (GEMS). He is an investigator in the Wake Forest Claude Pepper Center.
