Hang Shi, Ph.D.

Hang Shi, PhD received his Bachelor of Medicine Degree from Shanghai Medical University in Shanghai, China and his PhD in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He later completed his postdoctoral training with the Division of Endocrinology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Shi joined the faculty of Wake Forest University Health Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine/Section on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine in July of 2007. Dr. Shi’s research interests have been focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of obesity and insulin resistance. He currently is interested in combining basic and clinical research by using a translational and mechanistically focused approach to study obesity and diabetes in aging.
