Dr. Kritchevsky is an epidemiologist (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, 1989) who studies the determinants of functional decline in older population.  His research interests are broad and include the role of inflammatory processes as predictors of functional decline and the role of nutrition and body composition in the development of age-related chronic disease and functional decline.  Before coming to Wake Forest in 2003, he was the Director of the Health Aging and Body Composition Field Center at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center.  He continues to work with the Health ABC study as a Member of its Executive Committee, and he co-chairs the study’s Presentation and Publications Committee.  Dr. Kritchevsky currently leads Wake Forest’s LIFE (Lifestyle Interventions and Independence for Elders) Study site, and Wake Forest’s effort as part of the Cardiovascular Health Study All-Stars Study.
