The Eye Center offers three yearly visiting professorships. These teaching events not only attract The Medical Center physicians and personnel, but also are considered regional teaching events for ophthalmologists from North Carolina, southwestern Virginia, eastern Tennessee and South Carolina. The University designates these continuing education activities for Category II credit.

A major grant from the Lions Clubs of North Carolina and Lions International helped to fund the NC Lions Clinical Research Division. It is an integral part of Wake Forest University Eye Center which moved into its new facility in 1990. A dedicated research space of more than 1,000 sq.ft. and proximal to the Eye Center's waiting areas and diagnostic facilities, the division is staffed by full-time research nurses.

Comprehensive Eye Service

The Comprehensive Eye Service provides complete ophthalmologic care to patients without a referral. All patients undergo a complete eye examination. Those patients who are found to have ophthalmic problems which require subspecialty evaluation are then seen by the appropriate sub specialist.
