Neurorehabilitation Community Exercise Program
There's a new exercise option for people in the community who have experienced a stroke, head injury, spinal cord injury multi-trauma or an amputation, or those who have multiple sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy or general deconditioning resulting from multiple medical problems.
Convenience and Security
The Neurorehabilitation Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has opened access to their state-of-the-art equipment as alternative to community exercise facilities. This program, located at Comp Rehab Plaza on Miller Street (just off the Cloverdale Exit on Business 40), features convenient parking and handicapped accessible facilities.
Using Neurorehab's equipment in you exercise program offers the security that comes in knowing a trained rehab physical or occupational therapist or technician will be on-site to ensure your safety as you use the equipment. In addition, each participant will be given a folder to keep track of his or her exercise plan and progression.
Training
All participants will be trained to use the equipment. Although this program is ideally suited for people who can use the equipment independently, others who need assistance may bring a friend or family member to help them.
In addition to past and current Neurorehab patients, community members who recognize the value of exercising at a rehab facility also may use the equipment. To participate in the program, a diagnosis consistent with other Neurorehab patients will be required and a one-time fee of $30.00 for evaluation and training will be charged. All participants will be required to have medical information and release forms signed by their physician before beginning their exercise program.
Registration
Neurorehab's exercise equipment is available for unlimited use from 8:30 am to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cost per person is $30.00 per month.
