Hand Center
Wound Healing and Scar Management
Wound healing and scar management form the basis for much of what we do in hand therapy. Patients are seen early in the wound healing phase for instruction in dressing changes to enhance wound healing and minimize scarring. As the wound achieves closure patients are instructed in various massage techniques to prevent the scar tissue from sticking to uninvolved structures. Different modalities such as ultrasound may be utilized to help control scarring.
