Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Bone and Joint Center
The Bone & Joint Center at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center offers state-of-the-art patient care for the more than one billion children and adults affected by bone and joint disorders each year. At Wake Forest Baptist, we offer a full continuum of musculoskeletal services including prevention, assessment, treatment, medical research, leading- edge technology and rehabilitation for individuals with the most common to the most complex bone and joint disorders.
At Wake Forest Baptist, our nationally and internationally recognized orthopaedic surgeons and specialty trained therapists offer expertise in the care and treatment of individuals with sports medicine injuries, hand and upper extremity injuries/deformities, foot and ankle injuries, spinal disorders, bone cancer, brachial plexus injuries, peripheral nerve disorders, work related injuries, and individuals with arthritis and joint replacement needs. In addition, they offer limb lengthening procedures, minimally invasive surgeries, and management of microvascular disorders and upper and lower extremity spasticity associated with cerebral palsy, spinal cord trauma or other causes.
As a major research center, Wake Forest Baptist is on the forefront of new developments in diagnosis and treatment and offers patients leading edge treatment and promising recoveries. For example, one of our physicians is a pioneer in using Botox to improve movement in patients with cerebral palsy. Others are leaders in using arthroscopic surgery to repair hip and knee joints and to provide a partial knee replacement with half the recovery time of traditional surgery. Research has repeatedly shown that in more complex cases, patients treated at an academic medical center have better outcomes, resulting in a better quality of life.
In addition, the Bone and Joint Center at Wake Forest Baptist also offers the latest technology – from digital operating rooms for more efficiency to a “Motion Monitor” that allows the physician and a therapist to analyze a golf swing, pitching motion or running on a computer. This technology allows the treatment team to look at the body as an interconnected system to develop more comprehensive treatment programs.
At Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, our interdisciplinary approach to bone and joint care, coupled with advanced technology and ongoing research enables us to offer individuals the best bone and joint care available today. All bone and joint services are based at the convenient CompRehab Plaza, just a few blocks from the Medical Center’s main campus.
