Inpatient Rehabilitation Services at the J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation
Located on the campus of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, in Winston Salem, N.C., the J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation offers three unique programs that provide acute care, psychiatry and acute inpatient rehabilitation all under one roof.
The third floor of this attractive 40,000, sq. ft. facility houses a total of 25 CARF accredited, acute inpatient rehabilitation beds in private and semi-private rooms with fully assessable showers. An indoor heated therapy pool, a horticulture room and a transitional living apartment where patients can practice independent living are also available.

Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs
Two units comprise the 25 bed inpatient rehabilitation portion of the Sticht Center:

· Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, a 19 bed CARF accredited unit that provides intense therapy for a variety of patients, 13 years of age and older, recovering from neurological and musculoskeletal disorders including stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple traumas, amputation, major joint replacement and other conditions
· Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Unit, a special 6 bed CARF accredited unit that provides specialized care for persons with traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury in a supportive, closely supervised environment. |
Our acute inpatient rehabilitation programs assist patients and families regain functional independence in the skills of daily living following life altering injury or illness. Working with patients and their families, our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team prepares an individualized and flexible Rehabilitation Plan of Care that guides the rehabilitation program for each patient. Goals focus on returning patients to their highest level of independence within their homes and communities. Every year, the Sticht Center achieves one of the highest rates in the region for the number of patients who are able to return home. In addition, our patient satisfaction scores are excellent as measured by the nationally recognized organization, Press Ganey.
Referrals
