Monitoring for Hypothyroidism after Radioactive Iodine

 

 

In the future, your thyroid gland may become underactive. Therefore, it is very important that you keep all follow-up appointments with your physician. If you should consistently experience any of the symptoms/signs listed below, contact your physician so that you may be evaluated for possible hypothyroidism. If this is the case, appropriate replacement therapy may be instituted in a timely manner.

 

            Symptoms/Signs of Hypothyroidism

 

1.      weight gain

2.      decreased energy

3.      cold intolerance

4.      constipation

5.      decreased mental function

6.      dry skin

7.      hair loss, broken nails

8.      coarse voice
