Cardiothoracic Imaging
The Cardiothoracic Imaging Section interprets chest radiographs, chest CT scans, chest MR scans, as well as cardiac MR scans. The section also performs all imaging-guided thoracic interventional procedures, including lung biopsies, pleural drainage catheter placements, and thoracenteses. The patient population includes both inpatients and outpatients, and a mix of both primary care and tertiary care patients. The section conducts a weekly conference with pulmonology, thoracic surgery, and pathology, and daily ICU rounds.
The section interprets all imaging studies on AGFA PACS workstations, using four-monitor workstations for all CXRs, and a two-monitor workstation for CT. PA and lateral chest radiographs are obtained on two GE Revolution XQi digital units; portable chest radiographs are obtained with an AGFA CR system. CT scanners include four GE LightSpeed scanners, and three GE helical scanners. Chest and cardiac MRI is performed at our state-of-the-art MRI Center.
