Knowledge Makes All The Difference

As part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine, The Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Immunologic Diseases Section is unique within the Southeast.  It is the only comprehensive center for allergic and respiratory disease, and offers you the largest number of test and treatment options in Western North Carolina.

Patients with allergies and respiratory diseases will have a full range of clinical services within this section, including pulmonary, critical care, allergy, asthma and immunology.

At the core of this section’s expertise, lies its extensive clinical knowledge, knowledge gained through active research into asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung injury, evaluation and treatment of obstructive airway disease, lung cancer and critical care.

Other areas in which the section excels include evaluation and treatment for sleep disorders, treatment of occupational pulmonary disease such as mesothelioma and asbestosis and the active investigation of genetic susceptibility in respiratory diseases, conducted through the Genomics Center.
