The clinical faculty of Wake Forest University School of Medicine serves as the attending staff of North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Appointment to the faculty is limited to qualified practitioners who have demonstrated competence in research and who exhibit qualities of scholarship.
Members of the faculty limit their professional activities to the Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals. Therefore, they are available for conferences and consultation and to assist the house officer in the management of patients assigned.
In addition to the clinical faculty, members of the School of Medicine’s faculty of basic scientists are available to consult with the clinicians, including house officers, in areas of their special competency. Some in-depth relationships exist, such as between biochemistry and pathology, in neurology, and in both pulmonary and cardiovascular physiology. Additionally, some of the clinical departments have basic scientists within their own ranks.
North Carolina Baptist Hospital has an attending staff of more than 440 physicians who have major responsibilities in the patient care and teaching programs. As the house officer progresses in training, he or she assumes increasing responsibility for the care of patients assigned to his or her service.
Please contact the House Staff Office with any questions or concerns.
