Occupational/Physical Therapy Departments
The Occupational/Physical Therapy Department provides an exceptional environment of professional support that challenges the staff to evaluate and apply therapeutic technology that truly has a positive effect on patient outcomes. The department is continually examining its delivery of care with a focus to meet the needs of a rapidly changing health care environment including all post-acute care services. The department has and will continue to fulfill an integral role in design and program development for comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation for the J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation and for the comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facility at Comp Rehab Plaza.
Each area of service has licensed practitioners and/or experience based competent staff to provide care from birth through the continuum of life based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety related criteria. The only exception to this is on Acute Rehab unit, the Transitional Care unit and ACE unit. Each of these areas provide rehabilitative services to patients eighteen years through the continuum of life.
Staffing plans for patient care services are developed based on the level and scope of care that need to be provided, the frequency of the care to be provided, and a determination of the level of staff that can most appropriately and competently provide the type of care needed. Each assistant director or supervisor in charge of a cost center will define collaboratively the program needs with the director and the appropriate health care team members. The director will work collaboratively with the assistant director, supervisors, program team members and the responsible vice president to determine the FTEs and appropriate mix of staff to provide quality care.
