What is a dietary supplement?

 

 The Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act of 1994 defined dietary supplements as a product (other than tobacco) intended to supplement the diet for such ingredients as vitamins, minerals, herbs, or other botanicals, amino acids and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars, and metabolites.
 

Mission

The mission of the Herbs and Dietary Supplements Task Force is to promote excellent holistic and integrative care by facilitating research and education on herbs and dietary supplements used to maintain health and to prevent and treat illness.

 Vision

The vision of the Herbs and Dietary Supplement Task Force is that Wake Forest University School of Medicine will be a national leader in conducting cutting edge multidisciplinary, collaborative research and providing outstanding, evidence-based educational resources to clinicians and patients.
