Application deadline is October 1 prior to the year of admission. All completed application files are reviewed by the program faculty. The most qualified applicants are invited to a personal interview with the selection committee in November or December, prior to the year of admission. A personal interview is required, and final selections are made by the early part of the admission year.
Due to the limited number of student positions, not all qualified candidates can be admitted. Therefore, applicants who wish to reapply may do so by contacting the Nurse Anesthesia Program office. Applicants who are being reconsidered must update their file in order to compete with current applicants.
Tips on submitting your application:
Ø Admission to the UNCG Graduate School can take some time. Optimally, you should submit your full application to UNCG by August 1, so that full admittance can be obtained by the program deadline of October 1.
Ø Your references help us get a feel for your professional accomplishment in clinical nursing. Somebody who has directly observed your work in the ICU can probably provide a better picture of your ability than can someone with whom you have had limited interaction. Some people request references from anesthesiologists, CRNAs, department chairs, program alumni, etc. who barely know them. Keep in mind that if the person is not directly familiar with your work, their title alone will not create a more favorable reference. These superficial references actually prevent us from developing the full picture that we need about you.
Ø As completed applications are received, we schedule interviews for qualified applicants. If your application is complete by mid-year, thank you for being prompt. You may receive your interview date by August or September. For applications received later, interviews are scheduled as soon as we have all of your documentation. Regardless of whether you receive an earlier or later interview date, we assure that ample time is allocated, such that the last interviewee has the same opportunity for acceptance as the first.
