Title: SPS3 (Small Subcortical Strokes)

Principal Investigator:  David Lefkowitz, MD

Objective:  Identify effective therapies for prevention of stroke recurrence and cognitive decline in patients who have suffered small subcortical strokes.

Therapy:

1)     Combination of aspirin and clopidogrel (generic of plavix)

2)     Aggressive blood pressure management

Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

§         Lacunar Stroke

§         No cervical carotid stenosis

§         Must be 40 years of age or older

§         No disabling stroke
