Title: COHORT (Cooperative Huntington's Disease Observational Research Trial)

Principal Investigator: Francis Walker, M.D.

COHORT is an observational study for individuals and family members of individuals with Huntington’s disease.  Data collected from annual study visits will include collection of biological samples, clinical data, as well as genetic and environmental information.  Knowledge from this data will: inform physicians about onset and progression of HD, possibly identify potential interventions, possibly identify biomarkers that parallel progression and onset, and aid in planning and designing research studies designed to slow progression or delay onset of the disease.

Criteria

·         Individuals age 18 or older w/ clinical diagnosis of HD or adult individuals known to carry the HD gene 

·         At risk adult first degree relatives of an individual w/  clinical diagnosis of HD or individual known to carry the HD gene (Parents, siblings, adult children)

·         Grandparent or grandchild of an individual who is participating in the COHORT study 

·         Individuals 17 years of age or younger with clinical diagnosis of HD or positive HD gene test

·         Spouse of HD individual with no family history for Huntington’s-HD spouse must also be participating in the COHORT study (Control)
