Dr. Caress is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine where he specializes in diseases of the peripheral nerves and muscles. He completed his neurology residency at Duke University and a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at Harvard Medical School. He is director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic and attends the WFUBMC ALS Center. Dr. Caress is the director of the 4th year medical student neurology elective and teaches neuromuscular neurophysiology to the residents and fellows.  He is involved with clinical research trials for patients with Lou Gehrig's Disease, myasthenia gravis, and Huntington's Disease. He also performs basic and applied research in patients with muscle cramps.
