Code 44 Team

The Code 44 Team was established to provide emergency medical care and appropriate transportation to victims of any sudden illness and/or injury occurring on the main campus of the Medical Center. It is the policy of the Code 44 Team to deliver such health care in a manner that provides an environment conveying compassion, confidentiality and safety for all employees, visitors, and patients. |

The team consists of volunteer employees and Safety/Security Officers of the Medical Center who are a Medical Responder or higher and maintain current Healthcare Provider BCLS status. Members also must attend monthly continuing education training. |
Initial MR Class
The 2008 Initial Medical Responder classes will be held as follows: Spring class – January 3, 15, 30, February 4, 21, 25, March 12, 19, 26, April 8, 21, and May 9 and Fall class – July 30, August 1, 11, 14, 20, 25, 27, September 11, 22, October 10, 20, November 3. Code 44 Orientation Class
All new Code 44 members must attend an orientation before responding to calls. Please contact Billy Haynes at 716-2005 or bhaynes@wfubmc.edu for more information or to register for a class. Orientation will be from 8:00 am till 3:00 pm on the following dates: January 31, March 31, May 28, July 31, September 12 or November 14.
MR to EMT Bridge Class
There will be 1 MR to EMT Bridge classes held in 2008 (TBA). Interested persons should contact Billy Haynes at 716-2005 or bhaynes@wfubmc.edu for more information.
All Instruction will be under the guidance of North Carolina Certified Instructors. The Continuing Education Program will comply with all EMS rules and regulations established by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services. All objectives listed within the "Guidelines for Initial Education, Refresher Education, Continuing Education, and Performance Evaluation for Basic Life Support Personnel, Revised November 1, 2003" will be covered during the planned educational sessions. Annual skills testing will incorporate scenario based scope of practice performance evaluation required by the Office of Emergency Medical Services and will be consistent with the requirements detailed in the OEMS “Technical Scope of Practice Performance Evaluation” document.
