Research Activities
Lipid Sciences is located in the new Richard H. Dean Biomedical Research Building in the Piedmont Triad Research Park. The combination of state-of-the-art facilities with proximity to other investigators provides a rich environment for collaborative research in such areas as choloesterol metabolism, the role of fatty acides in cardiovascular disease, sterol trafficking and metabolism. Please see the individual faculty members' home pages for more about their research..
Also located on the new campus is the Center for Botanical Lipids, one of five dietary supplement research centers focusing on studies of botanical products that have been jointly funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS), both components of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
