Dementia

Dementia is an organic mental disorder characterized by a general loss of intellectual abilities involving impairment of memory, judgment, and abstract thinking as well as changes in personality.

While Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, there are other causes of dementia and other conditions that may mimic dementia. These include the following:

Vascular Dementia
Depression
Pick's Disease
Parkinson's Disease
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease
Neurosyphilis
B-12 deficiency
Thyroid Disease
Tumors
Sub-deural hematomas, clots or bleeding in the brain
Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection (HIV)

Since dementia can be caused by many things, it is important to see your physician.
