Patient Information

We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our practice!  The Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Infertility Program has been offering hope to couples for many years.

Our trained staff of nurses and laboratory personnel is dedicated to helping couples build their family.  Please visit the staff section of the web site to learn more about the people who will be helping you.  Let us make a few comments about your care at the Medical Center.

1.   All questions are good questions and worthy of an answer.  If the nurses or lab personnel cannot answer your request, they will direct you to us.

2.   Infertility treatment can be costly, so feel free to discuss these issues with the personnel, including the business services coordinator.

3.   We help train resident physicians in OB/GYN, so you may come into contact with some of these individuals.  All decisions are made by us, and if you are uncomfortable with this arrangement, please let us know.

4.   While we do not post credentials in our waiting area, we are Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists and our labs are certified by our National Organization.  The nurses and lab personnel also have to keep up with their certification requirements.  We will be happy to share this information with you if you so desire.

5.   Our treatments often involve frequent visits for ultrasounds and inseminations that are routinely performed by the nurses.  While we may not see you at every visit, we review all information with the staff on a daily basis and make all the decisions.  If you need to see us, please notify either the nurses or our receptionist.

6.   If you are coming for a new patient appointment, these tend to last 30 to 45 minutes and spouses are welcome.  While we mostly talk at the first visit and discuss a treatment plan, there may be an opportunity for certain tests to be done. We apologize for what may seem like a long wait to see us.  Openings often arise and we will make every effort to work you in sooner.

7.   We understand the sensitive nature of your infertility and make every effort to protect your privacy.  If you have specific concerns in this area, please let us know.

Finally, since we dedicate our practice to infertility, we fully understand that you are in the middle of a very difficult trial.  While the focus is often on the physical nature of infertility, we do not want to ignore the emotional or spiritual aspects of your struggle.  We also understand that some marriages are stressed during this time.  Please let us know if you have any particular needs in these areas.  Other than expertise within our group, we also keep up with local resources such as support groups, adoption programs, and counseling.  Our goal is to get you through the trial of infertility and on with your life.  While a pregnancy is an obvious goal of ours, we understand that a success can take on many forms.  We are delighted to help couples along other avenues such as adoption.  We all look forward to working with you!

The Wake Forest Center for Reproductive Medicine is open on Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM and we return phone calls until 4 PM. We are open on weekends and holidays as needed for in vitro fertilization and intrauterine inseminations.
