The Section on Hematology and Oncology is a joint Section within the Department of Internal Medicine. The section Chief is Dr Bayard Powell. Many members of the Section are also important contributors to the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University (CCCWFU). The Hematology and Oncology Section currently includes 23 faculty members whose clinical and research interests span the spectrum of benign and malignant hematologic diseases and solid tumors. Faculty include PhD scientists with laboratory research focus and two psychologists. The Section on Hematology and Oncology currently has 106 staff representing a very large clinical and research section within Wake Forest University School of Medicine working closely with North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
