Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has been performing heart surgery since the 1940s and helped pioneer open-heart surgery in North Carolina. Through the years, Medical Center cardiologists and heart surgeons have made major contributions in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
We offer the following heart surgery services:
- Coronary artery bypass - sometimes referred to as CABG, this form of heart surgery is done to reroute, or "bypass," blood around clogged arteries and improve the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
- Valve replacement and repair
- Pulmonary resections
- Great vessel surgery
