Dr. Charles Turner was born in Greensboro, North Carolina.  He attended Davidson College graduating in 1966.  He came to Bowman Gray School of Medicine and graduated in 1970.  His internship was at the Methodist Hospital of Indiana followed by three years in the Army in Germany.  He returned to North Carolina Baptist Hospital for a year of research as a Bradshaw Fellow and then finished his general surgery residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.  He then went to John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland for two years of pediatric surgery fellowship returning to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to start his pediatric surgery practice at the Wake Forest University Medical Center.

His main clinical interests are those having to do with the surgical management of congenital anomalies, childhood solid tumors, and more recently the minimally invasive surgery for children.  During his twenty-three years he has overseen the development of subspecialty surgical care for children at the Brenner Children's Hospital at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.  Now Brenner Children's Hospital has specialist for all surgical care of children who have their special interest, training, and expertise in their specialty field of pediatric surgery.
