John K. Petty, MD

Dr. Petty joined the Department of General Surgery/Section of Pediatric Surgery in October 2005.  Originally from Portland, Oregon, he graduated summa cum laude from Duke University in 1992 with a degree in Psychology and subsequently earned a medical degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1997.  Dr. Petty trained in general surgery at
Oregon Health & Science University from 1997 to 2003.  He completed a research fellowship in tumor immunology at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in 2001.  Dr. Petty successfully completed his fellowship in pediatric surgery at The Children’s Hospital Denver in 2005.  He is board certified in general surgery and is board eligible in pediatric surgery.

Dr. Petty will provide comprehensive pediatric surgical care at Brenner Children’s Hospital along with his partners, Dr. Charles Turner and Dr. Thomas Pranikoff.  Dr. Petty has a special interest in pediatric oncology, hepatobiliary disease, and minimally invasive surgery
