Dr. Jimmy Holmes joined the Department of General Surgery in January 2006 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery/Trauma Services and as the Medical Director of the Burn Center. Originally from Dallas, Texas, he graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1990 with a degree in Biology and subsequently earned a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1996. Dr. Holmes trained in General Surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, from 1996-2002. He completed a basic science research fellowship in Immunology at the Virginia Mason Research Center/Benaroya Research Institute in 1999. Dr. Holmes completed a fellowship in Burn Surgery at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center in 2003 and subsequently completed a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. He is board certified in General Surgery and board eligible in Surgical Critical Care.

 

Dr. Holmes joins his partners, Drs. J. Wayne Meredith, Michael Chang, Preston Miller, and Jason Hoth in providing comprehensive care for the severely injured at the Trauma Center and the Burn Center of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
