| Matthew Edwards, M.D. Assistant Professor Vascular Surgery Publications | I have been at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine either as a resident, fellow, or faculty member for ten years. I grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia for both my undergraduate and medical educations. I then came to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine for my general and vascular surgical training. During this time I also completed a masters degree in clinical epidemiology and health services research.
I practice general vascular and endovascular surgery with particular interests in renovascular and extracranial cerebrovascular disease. I am one of two surgeons in the Vascular surgical group with advanced training and particular interest in endovascular techniques.
My research interests include predictors of renal function and hypertension response following renal revascularization, embolic protection during catheter based intervention, and the cardiovascular effects of declining excretory renal function.
I am married to Dr. Angela Edwards, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia, and we have two children. We enjoy all of the advantages inherent to living in Winston-Salem (safety, convenience, active arts community, proximity to the mountains and coast, low cost of living, excellent public and private schools) and would recommend it highly. Winston is a wonderful place to live and the surgical training is excellent with tremendous breadth in scope and acuity of pathology.
