Section on General Internal Medicine Provides
Primary Care for Adults and Adolescents

Physicians specializing in General Internal Medicine care for “the whole patient” instead of focusing on a single organ or disease state.  Many times that equates to providing primary care and screenings. Physicians in this Section place an emphasis on providing continuing care for patients that includes wellness checks, prevention and care of multiple acute sinus infections, muscle pain, etc.; and chronic problems such as high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, and arthritis.

The general internist’s goal is to serve as a patient’s primary physician during a lifetime.
