Side effects (headaches, nausea) are rare and usually temporary. Patients typically return to their normal routine within a day of the procedure. Gamma Knife poses no risk of post-surgical bleeding and infection, nor is there general anesthesia from which to recover as with conventional surgery. Gamma Knife may cost less than conventional surgery. Also, the expenses of disability and prolonged convalescence associated with conventional surgery are avoided.
