Active participation and an interest in learning is a must, and involvement in clinical research is expected. Time and supervision are provided to produce at least one major publication and/or scientific presentation in the field of sports medicine. |
Registration and Travel is provided for each fellow to attend the AMSSM Research Workshop for Sports Medicine Fellows. This national conference on research techniques and experimental design occurs early in his/her fellowship year |
The fellow is expected to follow through with a scholarly project from its inception to publication. |
The fellow has easy access to epidemiologists and research assistants to gain further insights into research design and statistical analysis. |
One half-day per week is set aside for research and scholarly activity. |

Rehabilitation – research available through both the North Carolina Baptist Hospital physical therapy department and Wake Forest University athletic trainers.

Wake Forest University Department of Exercise Science – Fellows are involved in performing graded exercise testing for several studies and community programs.
