Wake Forest University Department of Athletics

The physicians of the WFU Sports Medicine Unit serve as team physicians for all Wake Forest University intercollegiate teams.

Winston-Salem State University

Training Rooms and Pre-participation Sports Physicals are provided by the sports medicine fellows and faculty for this NCAA Division I University.

NC School for the Arts

Training room and ballet performance coverage – adds a unique blend of orthopedic and medical aspects of performance medicine.  This offers a relatively unique experience with this type of athlete.

Local High School Sports

The Sports Medicine Unit provides coverage for several area high schools.  Each fellow is primarily responsible for one high school but will also provide back up coverage as needed.

The Wake Forest University Sports Medicine Unit is responsible for providing ~ 500 to 1000 sports pre-participation physical exams (PPEs) to students at area public and private high schools. The significant majority of these are provided in a mass screening event each year. Other PPEs are done at various clinical sites during the fellowship year.

Various other mass and individual sporting events throughout the area are also covered.

Winston-Salem Warthogs Professional Baseball

White Sox “A” Minor League professional baseball team.

Twin City Cyclones

Game coverage for the local member of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Twin City Classic Soccer Tournament

Mass event two-day soccer tournament covered by the fellows and the WFU Sports Medicine Team.

CIAA Basketball Championship

Mass event men's and women's basketball tournament coverage for NCAA Division colleges in the area.
