Referrals

To Refer a Patient

If you are a physician and wish to speak with an endocrinologist about a patient, patient transfer or medical question, please call the Physician Access Line toll free at 1-800-277 -7654 (716-7654 within Winston-Salem).

Scheduling Appointments

All Clinic visits are by appointment only.  To make an outpatient appointment for either the General Endocrinology Clinic or the Thyroid Clinic, please call 336.713-7251, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You can also make an appointment on-line through Health On-Call by calling 336.716.2255.  

Appointments for the Thyroid Clinic may be scheduled only by a referring physician.

Test Results

Patients are normally notified of their lab or test results via letter.  Referring physicians will receive a copy of the patient’s lab results and the Endocrinologist’s transcription.

A Physician-To-Physician Only Hotline Expedites Your Call

The Physician's Access Line (PAL®) is a toll-free service provided by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center to practicing physicians throughout North Carolina and the Medical Center's extended service and referral area. This service is a physician-to-physician only hotline that puts you in touch with Expediters who will connect you with the full-time faculty physician of your choice, or with another specialist in that discipline.
