K. Patrick Ober, M.D., FACP.     Professor of Internal Medicine Education Selected Publications K. Patrick Ober, MD, FACP, is Professor of Internal Medicine (Endocrinology and Metabolism) at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. He is Head of the Section of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Director of the Endocrinology Fellowship Program, Internal Medicine Clerkship Director, Medical Director of the Diabetes Care Center, and Vice-Chairman of Education for the Department of Internal Medicine. He has written on numerous topics dealing with clinical endocrinology, including subjects such as thyrotoxic periodic paralysis, lymphocytic hypophysitis, diabetes insipidus, novel approaches to therapy of hirsutism, struma cordis, acanthosis nigricans and endocrine disorders, adrenal insufficiency, pituitary apoplexy, pheochromocytoma, and the toxicity of endocrine therapeutic agents. Reflecting his diverse medical interests, he has also written papers on clinical problem solving and on Mark Twain's perspectives on 19th century medicine. Dr.Ober has been the guest editor for issues of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America and the Medical Clinics of North America on the topic of emergencies in endocrinology. He has served as President of the North Carolina affiliate of the American Diabetes Association, and has also been a member of the Research Committee, and a member and Chairman of the Professional Education Committee. He has been listed in the last two editions of Best Doctors in America. He serves on the test-writing committee for Step One of the National Board of Medical Examiners (Physiology Committee).  He has received 8 major teaching awards from students and residents at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and the medical school yearbook has been dedicated to him twice.   Education 1970 Department of Biochemistry Honors College Michigan State University B.S.
