Medical Student Rotation

Evaluation and Grading

The following is a breakdown of the different components used to calculate your final course grade for the Emergency Medicine fourth year clinical rotation:
 

Clinical Evaluation

65%

Written Examination 

25%

Case Report

10%

Clinical Evaluation:

Each emergency medicine faculty member is provided an evaluation form on you following each of your clinical shifts. The different areas of performance that will be evaluated include:

Medical knowledge
History
Physical exam
Differential/treatment plan
Presentation
Professionalism
Motivation
Procedural skills
Documentation
Consultant Interaction

Written Examination:

The written examination is approximately 95 questions long and is based on the lectures and assigned reading.

Case Report:

Each student is required to present a clinical case with a 15-20 minute discussion to follow.
