Search Our Photos Using Cumulus Web Publisher Pro

Introduction

Welcome to Cumulus Web Publisher Pro, an on-line digital database of over 5000 photographs taken by our staff of professional photographers. If you require high resolution photos suitable for printed publications or for poster printing, or if you require screen resolution photos for web pages and PowerPoint presentations, then please follow the instructions below for searching this catalog.

All of the photos in this catalog can be downloaded but they are low resolution FPO (for placement only) and are meant to be used only as placeholders in publications, on web pages, or in PowerPoint presentations. All photos will be embossed with “FPO” as well as © WFUSM Creative Communications. Once you have decided which photos you want, please email creative@wfubmc.edu with a list of the file names and your intended use (web/PowerPoint or printed publication) and we will send you the photos at the appropriate resolution for your use.

Fees

The fee for web pages or PowerPoint presentations is $6.00 per image and the fee for printed publication use varies. We can give you an accurate quote once we know which images you want and how you intend to use them. Please be sure to include your billing account number and department name in your email..

Note that we do offer a small selection of free, screen resolution photos available at Send & Receive Files > Photo Archive. These free photos are suitable resolution for use in web pages or in PowerPoint presentations.

Navigating

The catalog may open differently every time you access it since multiple users are using the same username. We recommend first clicking on the Search all Record Fields magnifying glass and then clicking on the Direction of Sort Arrow (See Figure 1 below.) When this arrow is pointed down you will be looking at the newest catalog entries at the top of the screen.

The blue Page Turning Arrows immediately to the right of this menu bar will allow you to page through the catalog.

Thumbnail Size
The Thumbnail Size button controls the size and number of the thumbnail images visible at once on your screen. The catalog will always open with the medium sized thumbnail selected. You can change the thumbnail size by clicking on the different sized squares on this button. (See Figure 2 below.)

# of Thumbnails Displayed
The catalog opens with only a limited number of photos displayed. Click on the plus side of this button to increase the number of rows displayed on the screen which we highly recommend doing!

Preview View
Clicking on the Preview View button will show you a larger view of the selected photo. To return to thumbnail view, click the Thumbnail View button the far left of the menu bar.

Information View
Clicking on the Information View button will display the who, what, why, where of the image (if that information is available). You will sometimes see this information both in the notes and caption fields.

Thumbnail View
Clicking on the Thumbnail View button the far left of the menu bar will get you back to viewing the thumbnails of the catalog.

Collection Basket
Clicking on the Collection Basket button will show you all photos that you have added to the Collection Basket while browsing the database and will give you the ability to dowload all collected photos in one zip file.

A Few Tips on Navigating
In thumbnail view can you right mouse click on any photo and then be able to go to the preview and information views, download the photo, or add the photo to your collection basket.

Remember, clicking on the Thumbnail View button the far left of the menu bar will get you back to viewing the thumbnails of the catalog.

Searching

The easiest way to search the catalog is to browse through the categories listed on the left side of the screen. Most of the categories are nested. If the arrow pointing to the category is blue, you can click on the arrow once and the category will expand revealing subcategories. Double clicking on a category or subcategory name will show you all of the records tagged with that specific category.

      Figure 3

Note there is an indication of the number of records found. There will likely be more than one page of records returned by your search, so remember to use the blue page turning arrows to look at all of the photos found.

The two most useful categories to search through are likely to be “Clinical Initiative” and “Key Word – Record Name”.

If you are looking for a specific person or place, the easiest method is to enter the text in the search box between the two magnifying glasses. (See Figure 1 again.) Then click on the Search all Record Fields magnifying glass icon to the right. Remember that there will likely be more than one page of records returned by your search, so remember to use the blue page turning arrows to look at all of the photos found.

If you are adventurous you can use the Search Specific Fields magnifying glass to the left of the text search box. Here you can use Boolean logic to combine searches with multiple field values.

Downloading Images

While in Thumbnail View, right mouse click on a photo you want and choose “Add to Collection Basket”.

When finished collecting photos, click on the Collection Basket button in the menu bar (See Figure 2 again.)

Now click on the Download button (second from the left) to bring up the download dialog. (See Figure 5 below.)

The pull down menu should already be set to “Copy Original Asset”. If not please change it to that. Then check the two boxes below for “ZIP Collection Basket” and “Clear Collection Basket After Download”.

Click the Download button and save the file to your desktop. You will be downloading a zip file. It will have the name of the first photo you chose but the zip file will contain all the photos in the collection basket. Once the zip file is on your desktop, double click on it to unzip the images.
