Picture File Formats
Many different picture file formats can be inserted into Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. The most common is JPEG but you can also insert TIFF, BMP, PNG, GIF, WMF, EPS, and more. To insert these pictures into your PowerPoint or Word file, follow the instructions below. Note that these instructions are the same for inserting pictures into most any Microsoft program.
Before you can insert the pictures, the picture files (JPEG, BMP, etc) need to be accessible by your computer. Therefore, the files should be stored on your computer's hard drive, CD-ROM, USB drive, attached network file server, etc. If you have received a picture file via email, be sure to save it to your computer's desktop first.
Once the picture files are accessible by your computer, they can then be inserted into PowerPoint by going to the Insert menu and selecting "Picture > From File". |
