Cancer Prevention
The overall objective of the CCCWFU (Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University) CCOP (Community Clinical Oncology Program) Research Base is to provide its CCOPs and affiliates with cancer prevention and treatment studies that are not available through other NCI-approved Cooperative Groups.
The Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University is carrying out innovative research in the basic sciences, cancer prevention and cancer control, in addition to implementing outreach and education strategies designed to inform the public of advances in cancer prevention.
ACS Guidelines on Diet, Nutrition, and Cancer Prevention:
There are many things you can do to aid in cancer prevention. Eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Eat other foods from plant sources, such as breads, cereals, grain products, rice, pasta, or beans several times each day. Choose foods low in fat. Limit consumption of meats, especially high-fat meats. Another cancer prevention technique is to be moderately active for 30 minutes or more on most days of the week, and stay within your healthy weight range.
