A Multidisciplinary Approach to Brain Cancer Treatment
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center offers the region’s only multidisciplinary clinic for brain cancer treatment. Patients receive their brain tumor diagnosis via consultations with nationally-recognized experts, including medical oncologists, neurosurgeons, and radiation oncologists. Those with tumor-associated seizures can also work with a neurologist from Wake Forest Baptist’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.
For patients who receive their care at Wake Forest Baptist, the most sophisticated tools in the world are available for brain tumor diagnosis and treatment. We were the first center in the state to offer gamma knife surgery, a non-invasive, ultra-precise therapy for brain tumors. Gamma knife surgery is the gold standard against which other therapies are measured. In addition, we take advantage of a multitude of additional leading-edge approaches for our patients receiving brain cancer treatment, from image-guided surgery to cortical mapping and awake craniotomy.
We’re with You from Brain Tumor Diagnosis through Survivorship
We are pleased to be a part of NABTT (New Approaches to Brain Tumor Therapy), a prestigious consortium of nine academic medical centers offering patients access to the most innovative brain cancer treatment options in the world. Wake Forest Baptist is the only North Carolina center in this group.
Wake Forest Baptist also takes time to work with patients from brain tumor diagnosis all the way through survivorship, with a holistic approach that includes our nationally recognized cancer patient support program and our appearance boutique, conveniently located right within the Cancer Center.
Cutting-edge research. Gamma knife surgery. Extensive support and care. At Wake Forest Baptist, we’re working on winning the battle against brain tumors while giving our patients renewed quality of life.
