Current Research:  Cholesterol is the precursor of the androgen which promotes prostate carcinogenesis. ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is the cholesterol transporter mediating cholesterol efflux. My current research is creating an ABCA1 and Pten double knock-out mouse model. The objective of my research is to examine the effects of cholesterol in the development of prostate cancer and to study dietary interventions in the prevention of prostate cancer in deficiency of ABCA1.
