Master's Program in Bioethics
The Master’s Program in Bioethics will equip graduates to practice, teach, or conduct research about bioethics -- as integral to the work of health care, biotechnology, and the basic sciences. This Program provides an educational opportunity in bioethics at the graduate level for current and future professionals and others throughout the country, including health care providers, researchers in biomedicine and the life sciences, lawyers, and professionals in religion, health and research administration, and the biotechnology industry.
Our program has two characteristic emphases -- Bioethics in Social Context and Bioethics and Biotechnology -- yet its philosophy is that bioethics education is by its nature fundamentally generalist.
The full-time degree program is designed to be completed in one academic year plus a summer term (or, alternatively, a fall term) for completion of the thesis. Part-time students may take up to 6 years for completion. Both traditional and non-traditional thesis proposals will be considered to fulfill the thesis requirement.
Many bioethics courses will be offered in late afternoon or early evening time slots, to accommodate working professionals.
