Mission

The mission of the Visual and Performing Arts Program at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is to invigorate the healing environment by:

  • Promoting and coordinating an institutional culture that embraces the arts as essential components of health, healing and well-being;
  • Providing opportunities for the well-being of all who visit or work at the Medical Center to enjoy, be inspired by, and participate in the arts;
  • Encouraging and facilitating exposure to the healing power of the creative arts for those who are ill as well as all those who care for the ill;
  • Supporting translational research which explores the mechanisms, the benefits, and the role of the arts in health, healing and well-being; and
  • Embracing collaboration among interested artists within and outside the organization
