Grondin Receives First Place Research Award at the 2006 Gulf Atlantic Conference | The Department of Anesthesiology recognizes the following residents, fellows, and faculty for their participation at the 2006 Gulf Atlantic Anesthesia Residents' Research Conference hosted by University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, April 7-9, 2006.

| Awards at the 2005 Gulf Atlantic Conference | Following two "dress rehearsal" practice sessions, one resident, three fellows, and a 4th-year medical student accompanied by Dr. Mike Olympio, Vice Chair for Education and Dr. Margaret Brock, Residency Program Director, attended the 31st Annual Gulf Atlantic Anesthesia Residents' Research Conference held March 4-6, 2005 in Miami Beach, Florida. Drs. Clyne, Misa, Burch, Baggett, and Mr. Morley made presentations relating to the practice of obstetric, cardiac, and general anesthesia. Burch and Morley took First and Third Place Awards for Research, respectively. Funding for their travel came directly from generous donations to the Department of Anesthesiology’s Annual Fund for Education. |

| | Roughly 104 doctors made presentations at this year’s conference. Presentations were scored by all participating residents, with faculty providing any tie-breaking scores. Three categories of awards were presented for first, second, and third place in the areas of research, case reports, and literature reviews.
Dr. Olympio noted that, “All of our presenters did a fabulous job. You would have been proud of our representation. I sure was.” |
