Benefits

  • Attend classes and gain practical experience in a professional atmosphere at a recognized academic medical center and university
  • Access to resources and libraries at both the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine
  • Covered by a professional liability policy paid for by North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH)
  • Residency Stipend provided by NCBH - $1800 per year
  • (20) Personal Time Off Days per year

Expenses

  • Tuition: NCBH Clinical Fee, $2900 per year, UNCG tuition is paid separately (Please refer to UNCG graduate bulletin for current rates)
  • Books:  ~$2500 for the entire program
  • Administrative Services Fee:  $300
  • Student Activity Fee:  $30 per year, assists in graduation expenses
  • Electronic Case Tracking: ~$200 (covers 2 years - fees subject to change by vendor)
  • AANA Associate Membership: $100, onetime fee
  • Anesthesia Ear Piece: $55, fittings scheduled after orientation
  • PDA:  Furnish compatible PDA
  • Lab Coats: Two standard length white lab coats
  • Health insurance coverage: Students are responsible to maintain health insurance, as required by both NCBH and UNCG. Minor medical care may be received through the employee health clinic of the hospital, however students are responsible for major medical expenses.Coverage may be obtained at reduced rates through the hospital. 
  • The student should have at least two standard length white lab coats. Although no other special uniform is required, the student is required to abide by a professional code for dress and appearance. Operating room attire is supplied by the hospital.

*In addition to the above expenses, the student should also consider housing, meals, transportation and loss of income during the educational period.

Financial Assistance

  • Options include loans, scholarships, veterans benefits, government traineeship grants, student loans through the AANA.
  • Students needing to obtain financial assistance must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
  • Depending on institution needs, North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH) occasionally offers scholarships in exchange for an employment contract following graduation.
  • The UNCG Financial Aid Office can help students explore financing options.

Student Evaluation

  • A “B” in both academic and non-credit courses must be maintained in order to be eligible for graduation.
  • A “C” in more than 6 semester hours of coursework or a “C” in any nursing specialty course is cause for dismissal.
  • Clinical performance is evaluated on a daily basis throughout the 24 month program and students are required to maintain a “B” or above.
