Learning A New Technique

A recently instituted program in the Neuroscience Program allows advanced students the opportunity to visit an outside laboratory for up to three weeks to learn new, innovative techniques not currently available at Wake Forest University. The first student to take advantage of this opportunity was Tom Gould, who in the fall of 2000 traveled to the Medical School at the University of Lleida in Spain to learn a new method using cobalt to assay for changes in NMDA receptors in developing chick motoneurons in vivo. In addition to providing an invaluable learning experience, this program hopes to foster potential collaborative efforts and opportunities for postdoctoral training.
