MD Program Information

The MD Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine at the Bowman Gray Campus provides an opportunity for a unique medical education. The curriculum initiates the learning process of the medical student by integrating the basic and clinical knowledge of medicine with current technology, and builds a foundation of ethical professional behavior.

Future Students

Although a minimum of 90 undergraduate semester hours is needed for admission, almost all students have earned degrees before matriculation. Eight semester hours each in general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics are generally considered as minimum preparation. continue

Transferring Students

Admission to advanced standing by transfer may be granted to a limited number of students if space is available. Those seeking transfer must be currently enrolled and in good standing in an LCME-accredited medical school. Inquiries should be forwarded to the Office of Medical Student Admissions. continue

Early Assurance

Well-qualified college students, upon completion of the sophomore year, at very competitive schools may apply for acceptance to the class entering two years later. continue

International Applicants

Applications are accepted from international applicants as long as undergraduate and premedical course work has been done in the United States, immigration/visa status is current with US Immigration and Naturalization Service, and the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) has been or will be taken. If undergraduate and premedical course work have been done outside the United States, applicants must receive a degree from an institution in the United States or Canada and meet other requirements. Canadian citizens may apply with a degree from a Canadian undergraduate institution.

There are currently 51 accredited residency/fellowship programs at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center with a total of 625 residents and/or fellows within those programs. continue
