Overview

Dr ClinchWelcome to the Predoctoral section within the Department of Family and Community Medicine. One hundred percent of our faculty and residents have a role in teaching the medical students at Wake Forest’s School of Medicine. We are proud of this commitment and the department’s successful teaching. Many of our faculty are course directors for first-and second-year courses. These courses introduce clinical skills, the doctor–patient relationship, physical exam and diagnosis, community health exposure, and health care systems to the students in their basic science years (the first two years of medical school).

Once the students reach their third year, all rotate through the department in groups of 8-11. Although students spend most of their time in our clinic alongside our faculty and residents, they are exposed to community practices one half day a week. We are grateful for the area family physicians who give their time to teaching medical students. During a student’s 4th year, we offer electives within our department’s clinic and hospital service, Sports Medicine, and we facilitate all community electives and special community electives. Also below are some photos from our extremely active Family Medicine Interest Group (run by students for students), designed to promote awareness and interest in Family Medicine/Primary Care. Thank you for visiting our website.
