Islam U. Khan, Ph.D., Research Instructor of Internal Medicine-Rheumatology
Dr. Khan received his PhD from the University of Lucknow in Lucknow, India, where he studied T cell regulation in-patients with rheumatoid arthritis and cancer. He did a fellowship at the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH before he joined Dr. Kammer's laboratory as a research fellow. Dr. Khan's research interests include the study of mechanisms by which the type I protein kinase Isoenzyme regulates functions of different T cell plasma membrane-associated proteins by phosphorylation. He is also studying the molecular basis of defective expression of regulatory subunits of type I kinase A in lupus T cells.
